Dish Pro Technology
We're very excited about the new Dish Pro technology coming out this summer and
we hope this will help answer some of the questions you might have;
1. Dish network is not going to convert all the existing Legacy customers over.
If you are a current Legacy customer your system will still give you all the
programming and value you have come to expect from Dish Network with no service
interruptions for years to come.
2. The new system has been in use for years in Europe and Asia, so it is time
tested and is designed to give better reliability and service.
3. The only real difference is the use of less hardware, easier installations
and better service.
4. Here is a simple rundown of what the new system requirements will be;
(a) The system will not work properly with any RG-59 coax of any kind, all
existing '59' will have to be bypassed for proper installs. So you customers who
are running Dish Net on existing wiring that is below Dish Pro specs, you're
better off staying with the Legacy system.
(b) Legacy receivers [a.k.a. models 1000 through 6000] can still be used with an
adapter switch for each receiver with the Dish Pro system.
(c) Legacy L.N.B.F.'s and Dish Pro L.N.B.F.'s are not interchangeable. But the
Dish Pro receivers will work fine with the Legacy system with no modifications,
and the Legacy receivers will work fine with the Dish Pro system with the
addition of an adapter switch.
(d) Dish Pro Systems will afford longer coax wire runs, up to 200' ft.. so if
you couldn't get a dish because of obstructions like trees, etc., you will now
be able to receive your installation.
(e) All components used in the system such as; wall plates, grounding blocks,
bullets, etc. will have to meet the wider bandwidth specs of Dish Pro for the
system to work properly, Swept to 22 GHZ.
(f) The Dish Pro system allows stacking of switches so you can run up to 12
receivers off of one set of dishes, great for commercial applications.
(g) The Dishes are the same, it's the L.N.B.F.'s that are not interchangeable.
Look for the DP logo on the side.
Last of all Don't worry about all the little things, Dish Network has the
situation well in hand and if they haven't thought of it yet they will. Their
commitment to providing you with the very best in quality, service, and the
latest technologies is their main concern.
